As the dust settles on the first of our monthly Copa de Igor tournaments, we at Club Esgrima San Pedro are thrilled to share the highlights and successes of this remarkable day. Held on January 20, 2024, this event honoured the legacy of our beloved coach, Ihor Hornyak, and brought together fencing enthusiasts in a spirited display of skill and camaraderie.

A Day of Fierce Competition and Fond Memories 

The tournament started with participants across various age and skill categories, each bringing their unique style and passion to the piste. The children’s category saw seven young fencers crossing swords, with Juan narrowly clinching victory over Kevin in a thrilling 10-9 final. 

The women’s category was no less exciting, with Ana demonstrating skill and grace to triumph over Francesca. 

In the men’s category, Edu’s victory against Jonas in a 15-9 final was a testament to his tactical acumen and physical prowess.

More Than Just a Tournament 

Copa de Igor is more than a competition; it’s a tribute to Maestro Igor’s legacy, a platform for fencers to showcase their skills, and an opportunity to strengthen our community. This event saw participants from Club de Esgrima San Pedro, Estepona, Mijas, and Marbella united by their love for fencing and respect for a revered coach.
