Alongside these competitive forays, we’ve maintained a rigorous training schedule, meeting three times a week – Tuesdays and Fridays from 19:00 to 21:00 and Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00. These sessions are the backbone of our club, blending technical drills, tactical learning, and sparring, all under the watchful eyes of our experienced coaches. At Club Esgrima San Pedro, every clink of the épées and each strategic manoeuvre is a testament to our commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and the rich legacy of fencing. I Liga Boquerón de Acero on Nov 4th, 2023 in Mijas

At the I Liga Boquerón de Acero on November 4th, 2023, in Mijas, Club Esgrima San Pedro showcased their épée mastery with six fencers embodying the club’s elegance and strategic prowess. In the round-robin stages, each fencer faced their opponents with courage and finesse, leading to exciting playoffs. In the Women’s Beginner category, Isabel demonstrated agility and focus to reach the 1/16 finals. Agnes, competing in the Women’s Master, advanced to the quarterfinals with her swift and intentional blade work. In the Men’s Master category, Patrice and Andrei both reached the 1/8 finals with dynamic performances. Ivan, showing the traits of an emerging épée master, made it to the quarterfinals. Jonas, exemplifying the club’s poise and precision, earned a well-deserved bronze medal, enhancing the club’s collective pride. These moments of skill and triumph have been captured in videos, allowing the club to share their fencers’ impressive achievements and the excitement of their bouts with a broader audience. The participation of Club Esgrima San Pedro in the tournament reflects their dedication to the art of épée fencing and the competitive spirit that inspires them.

I Copa Andalucía on Nov 12, 2023 in Almería

The I Copa Andalucía, held in the historic city of Almería on November 12, 2023, showcased exceptional fencing talent, featuring 25 top fencers in the Men’s Absolute category. Jonas, Adrian, and Andrei represented Club Esgrima San Pedro, each demonstrating unique styles and techniques. In the round-robin stages, Adrian and Jonas progressed to the playoffs, with Adrian achieving a notable victory over Edu, a silver medalist from Liga Boquerón, in the 1/8 finals. Although Adrian’s impressive run ended in the quarterfinals, his performance marked him as a promising talent. Jonas excelled in the 1/8 finals, displaying strategic fencing and advancing to the quarterfinals. His journey continued with a victory over Jan, a former rival, before facing the eventual gold medalist in the semifinals. Despite his defeat, Jonas’s skilful performance was a tournament highlight. The I Copa Andalucía, more than just a competition, celebrated fencing’s artistry, evoking the passion and dedication inherent in the sport. The fencers from Club Esgrima San Pedro returned with their experiences and the respect and admiration of their peers and spectators.

San Roque, Dec 16 2023

On December 16th, a friendly fencing tournament occurred in San Roque, offering a relaxed yet competitive environment. This event differed significantly from the intensity of the Copa, emphasising camaraderie and sportsmanship. The tournament was structured into two pools, one with four and the other with five fencers. Andrei had the pleasure of being in the first pool alongside Francisco, a familiar face and a welcome presence. The friendly matches in each pool led up to a final bout, where the winners of the pools faced off in a decisive match to 5 points between Andrei and Fran. This tournament was about winning and enjoying the sport, learning from each other, and fostering a sense of community among fencers.

Our club, Club Esgrima San Pedro, hosts regular training sessions that are both rigorous and stimulating, scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays from 19:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00. These sessions are tailored to hone the skills of our fencers, offering a blend of technical drills, tactical exercises, and sparring opportunities. Fencers of all levels work on refining their techniques, enhancing their footwork, and developing strategic thinking on the piste. The atmosphere during these sessions is one of dedication and mutual support, with each fencer pushing themselves and their peers towards excellence. Whether preparing for competitive tournaments or improving personal skills, these training sessions are a cornerstone of our club’s pursuit of fencing mastery.

As we continue to celebrate the achievements and developments of Club Esgrima San Pedro in the 2023-2024 season, we are also preparing for a significant event on our calendar. January 20, 2024, marks the date for the inaugural Copa de Igor, a tournament organised in loving memory of our esteemed coach, Igor Hornyak. This event is not just a competition; it’s a tribute to a figure who profoundly impacted our club with his wisdom, skill, and passion for fencing. The Copa de Igor will bring together fencers from various clubs to honour his legacy, showcasing the values he instilled in us: dedication, respect, and the pursuit of excellence. As we gather to compete and remember, this tournament will serve as a reminder of the indelible mark Igor left on our community and the sport of fencing.
